Advice and Awareness Raising

A key aim of Llanelli Disabled Access Group’s work is to promote inclusion and equality of opportunity for disabled people in all areas of community life.  We do this by raising awareness, providing information, advice and guidance to a wide range of statutory, voluntary, business sector organisations and individuals. By doing this we support organisations and enable them to become more accessible and inclusive to disabled people.

Here are some examples of work we have been involved with recently:

  • Free training for disabled people on their rights under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), focussing on giving practical advice around accessing goods and services.
  • Assisting on the drafting on the Council’s Disability Equality Scheme.
Monitoring and commenting on its implementation.
  • Supporting local disabled people to take part in a range of key decision-making consultation exercises within the County.
  • Groundbreaking consultations with Consultants delivering the proposed cultural village concept ‘Works Project’.
  • Sponsoring and organising awareness raising events

We actively encourage all those who have any questions or concerns, or indeed interest in disabled access issues to contact us. Enquires may be kept in the strictest confidence if so desired.
